Sustainable natural resources and recycling

Our superior steel roof product is based on the principle of utilizing only the best raw materials in the manufacture of our lightweight roofing systems, offering a product on the world stage, second to none. Steel is one of the most infinitely recycled materials in the world and is considered a sustainable material by the sustainable building industry. We always believe that our practice of successfully recycling the steel scrap including off-cuts to minimize our impact on the natural environment. We source our steel from New Zealand Steel Limited who have received a “tick” from Environmental Choice New Zealand and are ISO14001 accredited.

During the installation of a stone-coated steel

roof there is less waste that ends up in landfills, as all steel wastage from the installation process can be recycled.

Proper ventilation helps energy efficiency

Tilcor roofs are known as “cool roofs”. This means they have the ability to cut building owners’ energy costs because they reduce the need for air conditioning.

Tilcor roofing products are designed to be elevated from the roof deck which creates a natural air flow referred to as “Above Sheathing Ventilation”. This ventilation prevents heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. In addition to proper attic insulation, this can help lower electric costs associated with heating/cooling. With innate heat absorption characteristics, stone-coated steel roofs help to mitigate the ‘heat island effect’ – a phenomenon now known to be a key contributor to green house issues in urban areas.

Transporting a Tilcor roof require less energy

A modular, lightweight system, often an entire roof can be delivered on one pallet, saving space on site and reducing delivery costs and carbon footprint

You can drink water off a Tilcor roof

Water is crucial to life and unlike some other categories of roofing products that taint water, our roofs are continuously tested and the water that comes off them is proven to be potable (safe for drinking water). An important consideration for areas where there is no town supply of water.

One roof for a lifetime

Tilcor roofs are made from ZINCALUME®, which combines the corrosion protection of aluminium with the sacrificial protection of zinc, giving it the advantage of both metals. As a result, ZINCALUME® has a significantly longer service life than a galvanised steel product using only zinc. This also means that we can offer you a Lifetime / 50 year limited warranty with your roof, saving the environmental cost of replacing your roof multiple times due to choosing an inferior product.
